Job Summary
Cook – On Call at Villa Fairmont MHRC: responsible for preparation, cooking and serving of meals to adult clients, including seasoning and cooking meat, fish, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts. Must have two years of experience in food production and knowledge of therapeutic diets; HS diploma or GED required; experience with institutional kitchen equipment (steam tables, stoves, refrigerators, freezers). English literacy required; willingness to work with disabled adults. Supervisory duties in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor and coordination with dietary staff and supervisors to ensure meals meet regular and modified diets; contributes to safety, sanitation, inventory control, and waste reduction. Union on-call shifts (AM/PM) with variable days; starting wage $21.94/hour, with geographic differentials. Physical requirements and attendance/reliability expectations apply. Duties include reviewing menus/recipes, preparing meals, receiving deliveries, and ensuring compliance with policies and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in food production
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets
- Health care setting experience preferred
- High School graduation or GED
- Experience with institutional kitchen equipment (steam tables, stoves, refrigerators, freezers)
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Willingness to work with disabled adults
- Fingerprinted and clearance from the Department of Justice
