Job Summary
On-call role representing American Humane Society’s No Animals Were Harmed program on motion picture, television, and new media sets, with travel to domestic and international locations. Responsible for ensuring humane treatment of animal performers, documenting housing and care, advising on safety issues, and coordinating with trainers, production staff, and local authorities. Requires veterinary or animal-science qualifications (DVM or RVT/LVT/CVT or BS in Animal Science) and proven experience in animal health and welfare, strong reporting skills, and the ability to travel to varied filming locations; includes completing mandatory CASR training and working across diverse sets and productions.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
- Registered/Licensed/Certified Veterinary Technician (RVT/LVT/CVT)
- B.S. in Animal Science or related field
- Diversity of experience in animal health and behavior preferred
- Commitment to animal welfare
- Equine knowledge and experience preferred
- Knowledge of animals including horses, snakes, spiders, fish, dogs, birds, goats and cats
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Diplomacy and collaborative relationship-building
- Knowledge of special effects and stunts involving animals preferred
- Ability to work without direct supervision in the field
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Excellent judgment
- Ability to analyze situations and make recommendations quickly
- Must complete the American Humane Society Certified Animal Safety Representative Training Course
