Job Summary

Lead environmental service aides in accomplishing housekeeping services for hospital interiors and related properties, ensuring areas remain safe, clean, and aseptic. Supervise assigned staff, assigning personnel, equipment, and supplies efficiently to maintain maximum resource utilization. Coordinate activities with other departments, conduct employee training, and respond immediately to defects or customer complaints. Monitor environmental services employees to ensure operational effectiveness while adapting communication styles to specific patient populations. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards to ensure full compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year housekeeping experience
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Basic knowledge of floor care
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing problems associated with areas of responsibility
  • Self directed and able to work with little supervision
  • Capable of operating Environmental Services equipment such as automatic scrubber and burnisher
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds of force occasionally
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds of force frequently
  • Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force constantly
  • Must be able to walk or stand to a significant degree
  • Must be able to sit most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls
  • Must be able to work at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials
  • Must be able to work in an area where patients enter
  • Must be able to work directly with patients
  • Must be able to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
  • Must be able to work with hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment
  • Must be able to comply with all federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility
  • Must be able to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
  • Must be able to immediately report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
  • Must be able to report patient/employee safety concerns
  • Must be able to report patient privacy concerns
  • Must be able to report other compliance-related concerns
  • Must reside in an area eligible for remote work (not Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, Washington D.C.)
  • Must be able to work in a patient care area
  • Must be able to work in an area where patients enter
  • Must be able to work directly with patients
  • Must be able to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
