Job Summary
Ombudsman Specialist responsible for recording complaints on behalf of residents in assisted living facilities, conducting site visits, interviews, and participating in resident-focused meetings. Duties include entering data into the Ombudsman Program’s data management system (GetCare) to meet reporting requirements, supporting development of resident/family councils, and facilitating information requests about aging, long-term care, and related services. Requires independence in interviewing residents with medical/physical/mental health considerations, strong communication skills, and the ability to identify systemic issues affecting groups of residents. Education/experience guidance: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Gerontology, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health Administration, or JD plus 4 years of relevant experience with older adults or individuals with disabilities is recommended; knowledge of regulatory systems is also recommended.
