Job Summary
Respond to concerns raised by residents, families, and interested parties, investigating complaints objectively and facilitating resolutions that support resident rights, choice, dignity, and quality of care. Conduct regular visits to long-term care facilities within the assigned service area to build professional relationships with residents, staff, families, and community partners while observing issues affecting well-being. Provide information regarding resident rights and available resources through community outreach and educational presentations, while assisting with recruiting and coordinating Volunteer Ombudsman activities. Identify trends impacting residents and collaborate with the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program to advance policy improvements. Complete Idaho's Ombudsman Certification Program before performing duties independently. Schedule is part-time.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in social services, healthcare, nursing, geriatrics, public health, human services, administration, or a related field
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Commitment to serving older adults and individuals with disabilities
- Must be able to pass an Intellicorp SSN Verification/Criminal History Search and Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Enhanced Background Check
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug testing
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with advocacy, case management, social services, healthcare, or community-based programs
- Knowledge of long-term care systems and resident rights
