Job Summary
Ombuds I at Harvard University to support confidential dispute resolution, coaching, and trainings across Harvard faculty, staff, students, and appointees. Responsibilities include conflict coaching, informal mediation, group facilitation, shuttle diplomacy, policy guidance, and development of trainings on negotiation and conflict resolution. The role requires collaboration with key offices, data collection for annual reporting, and delivery of outreach/education about the Ombuds Office. The position is hybrid (2–3 days on campus) with a 2-year term through June 30, 2028, and requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related experience; advanced degree and prior ombuds experience in higher education are strongly preferred. Visa sponsorship is not available. Standard hours are 35 per week with on-campus presence required as part of hybrid arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in ombudsing, conflict resolution, mediation and/or negotiation or related field
- Experience designing and delivering trainings (including relevant computer skills)
- Advanced degree preferred (not required) and prior ombuds experience in academic environment preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
