Job Summary
Ombuds I at Harvard University Ombuds Office seeking candidates with a Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years in ombudsing, conflict resolution, mediation or negotiation. Responsibilities include dispute resolution consultation/referral, informal fact-finding, conflict coaching, mediation, group facilitation, coordinating with offices serving Harvard-affiliated members, community outreach and education, trainings on negotiation and conflict resolution, policy analysis, and maintaining non-identifying statistics for annual reports. The role involves designing and conducting trainings, collaborating with the HU Ombuds team and other departments, and ensuring confidentiality, impartiality, independence, and informality. This is a 2-year term, benefits-eligible position with a hybrid schedule of 2–3 days on campus, and visa sponsorship is not provided. Salary is determined by Harvard’s compensation framework.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in ombudsing, conflict resolution, mediation and/or negotiation or related field
- Advanced degree in a related field preferred (not required)
- Experience designing and conducting trainings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience handling confidential matters with discretion
