Ohio Bridge Section Manager

Job Summary

Lead a team of engineers on expanding bridge and structural projects, supporting project delivery, team planning, and staff development. Plan staffing needs across programs, review schedules and budgets, and coordinate resources to ensure projects stay on track. Monitor progress, quality, and productivity while partnering with project managers to address concerns and align work with company standards. Contribute to proposal efforts, identify new business opportunities, and represent the team at industry events. Mentor engineers and technicians, support hiring and onboarding, and coordinate training to foster talent growth. Forecast workload trends, manage department resources within approved budgets, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 15+ years of related road and highway experience, with a heavy focus on highway bridges, preferably including Department of Transportation (ODOT) projects
  • 3 to 5 years of experience directly managing engineering staff and project teams
  • Ohio Professional Engineer (PE) registration
  • Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations (e.g. ODOT design manuals, National Bridge Design Specifications (AASHTO, ACI, etc.), and standard practices)
  • Strong knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of engineering software relevant to bridge design (e.g., MDX, LEAP Bridge, AASHTOWare and MicroStation/OpenRoads)
  • Established relationships with ODOT Central Office and District staff
