Job Summary
The Senior WASH Officer will supervise field-level WASH technical activities and manage WASH program officers. Responsibilities include designing, planning, and coordinating WASH activities, developing training modules for hygiene promotion, supervising project implementation, managing project documentation, and ensuring adherence to Mercy Corps standards. The role requires excellent knowledge of WASH implementation in emergency settings and the ability to engage local stakeholders effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in civil engineering or equivalent in Hydraulics, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering, water resource management, water treatment technologies, or similar fields
- Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in implementing WASH projects in emergencies
- Proven expertise in WASH project design and construction
- Demonstrated ability to train and build local capacity in WASH project implementation
- Experience with donor-funded projects, particularly with international funding agencies and UN agencies
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with local government services, international and national NGOs
- Strong knowledge of humanitarian standards and codes including SPHERE
- Experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizing effectively
- Excellent skills and proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, GPS, ArcGIS, and Google Earth
- Ability to write reports in French; knowledge of English is a plus
