Job Summary
Resilience Officer - RediCommunities responsible for supporting communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies through the RediCommunities program. The role emphasizes building local connections, facilitating workshops and discussions, guiding engagement from assessment to action, and ensuring inclusive participation and sustainable resilience outcomes aligned with humanitarian principles and emergency management frameworks. The position involves occasional intrastate travel and may include overnight stays, with deployments to four locations in South Australia (Lucindale Naracoorte Council area, Port Lincoln, Yankalilla District, and Mid Murray Council). The role requires strong community development expertise, collaboration with councils and emergency services, and a commitment to community-led planning and inclusive participation.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and expertise in community development practices
- Community-Centred Approach: listens to and values local knowledge, fosters inclusive participation and empowers communities
- Sound discipline knowledge gained through experience, training or education in community development, emergency management, disaster resilience, or related fields
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders including local councils, emergency services, community organisations, and residents
- Experience facilitating workshops, forums, or co-design sessions that support community-led planning and action
- Demonstrated experience working with and supporting volunteers, fostering safe, inclusive participation
- Experience applying strengths-based and community-led approaches in diverse settings
- Ability to engage diverse communities and coordinate actions across multiple locations
- Ability to work within a humanitarian framework and emergency management practices
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to lead workshops and engagement activities with a community-focused approach
