Job Summary
Office Support III in the Sheriff’s Office Civil Division handles receiving and processing License to Carry applications, scheduling appointments, issuing concealed carry licenses, assisting the public with pick-up of permits, processing refunds and documentation for denials or withdrawals, processing revocation requests, answering public inquiries in person or by phone, and performing daily clerical tasks such as filing in a normal office environment. The role requires basic clerical skills, English language usage, arithmetic, use of computers and office equipment, knowledge of county government law, confidentiality, and the ability to work under stress.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Experience in the civil and/or criminal judicial system preferred
- Basic elements of English language usage, spelling, and arithmetic
- Ability to perform routine clerical work
- Ability to utilize computer and basic office equipment
- Knowledge of office methods, practices and procedures and ability to make arithmetical calculations
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all other employees
- Knowledge of the law as it pertains to County government
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to handle stress
- Physical presence in the office is required
