Office Furniture Installer/Driver

Job Summary

Load and secure modular office furniture onto non-CDL trucks, review daily route sheets, and deliver products to client sites for unloading, assembly, and installation. Communicate with dispatch and customers throughout the day, ensuring all tools, supplies, and documentation are on board. Perform daily vehicle inspections, maintain DOT records, and handle returned product documentation upon returning to the warehouse. Read blueprints and architectural symbols to complete installation processes including lock installation and electrical component assembly. Work up to 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced environment requiring mechanical skills and product knowledge for brands like Herman Miller and Knoll.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years' experience driving a non CDL box truck up to 26 feet, in heavy traffic and congested city areas
  • DOT card or ability to obtain one
  • Prior office furniture installation experience preferred
  • Valid DOT driving certification
  • Able to safely and comfortably drive a straight or cube truck while obeying all traffic rules and being courteous to other drivers on the road
  • Perform daily inspection of vehicle and follow company policy for any mechanical difficulties, breakdowns or accidents with full documentation
  • Keep full, complete and accurate driving and DOT records
  • Ability to read and understand plans, blueprints, elevations and architectural/furniture symbols
  • Understands basic electricity and systems furniture electrical component installation
  • Mechanically skilled and knows how to safely use tools/equipment
  • Capable and efficient in the assembly of furniture, resulting in quality workmanship
  • Product knowledgeable; understanding product specifications and descriptions; can identify finishes, colors and fabric; knows correct application and assembly for products
  • Ability to analyze assignments for correct tool, supply and equipment requirements as well as small parts and product pulls from warehouse
  • Ability to pass a Government Security background screening
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Handle multiple projects with deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Project a professional demeanor as well as using tact when dealing with others
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Work Successfully in a team environment
  • Must be able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Knowledgeable in the following manufacturer lines, Herman Miller, Knoll, AIS, OFS, Kimball, National etc

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior office furniture installation experience preferred
