Office Engineer - Water/Wastewater

Job Summary
Manage critical project documentation, compliance, and administration by processing Requests for Information (RFIs), handling material submittals, and updating schedules. Perform detailed reviews and approvals of shop drawings and product data while supervising trade partners on the submittal process. Create and process change orders, manage financial accounts, and enter data into the job cost system for monthly owner pay applications and margin analysis. Participate in field activities including safety meetings, weekly audits, and quality control inspections, with a 25% office to 75% field split involving travel and site conditions. Exercise judgment in recommending solutions and implementing policies for water, wastewater, and utilities projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- Minimum of 4+ years of construction experience as an Office Engineer for water, wastewater, or utilities project
- Multiple construction trades and close coordination with the Owner on construction issues
- Knowledge and experience working with Municipalities on project costs and budgets, processing change requests, requests for information, submittals, and inspectors' daily reports
- Experience reviewing engineering designs, contractor shop drawings and/or vendor specifications and plans, or similar, to determine constructability and practicality of proposed work and adherence to established standards and requirements
- Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment
- Office to field time is approximately 25% to 75% respectively
- Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site
- Field work may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
- Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required
- Travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour construction safety training
- Commissioning and outage experience with water/wastewater plants
