Job Summary
Assist judges in resolving matters before the court, researching and analyzing legal issues for briefs and arguments based on statutes and case law. Prepare written memoranda, summaries, opinions, administrative orders, and professional correspondence while consulting judges on the interpretation and application of law. Search legal records and monitor pending legislation, then assist outside counsel with litigation involving judges or court employees. Maintain confidentiality throughout all duties and perform other assigned tasks as required. This role supports the Presiding Judge of the Division or Municipal District within the Circuit Court of Cook County, emphasizing a commitment to access to justice and sound judgment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Juris Doctor degree
- active license to practice law in Illinois
- Knowledge of methods of legal research and analysis of applicable law
- Experience with computer applications for word processing, spreadsheet, database, and legal research/writing
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
