Job Summary
Assist judges in resolving matters before the court, researching and analyzing legal issues for briefs and arguments based on statutes and case law. Prepare written memoranda, summaries, opinions, administrative orders, and public information documents while consulting judges on law interpretation. Search legal records and monitor pending legislation as needed, assisting outside counsel in litigation where judges are parties. Maintain confidentiality and perform assigned miscellaneous duties with strong written and oral communication skills. This role requires a Juris Doctor degree and active Illinois licensure, with a salary of $85,130 for licensed attorneys or $75,213 for graduates pending licensure. Applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Juris Doctor degree
- active license to practice law in Illinois
- Knowledge of methods of legal research and analysis of applicable law
- Experience with computer applications for word processing, spreadsheet, database, and legal research/writing
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
