Job Summary
Set up respiratory and positive airway pressure therapy equipment in the post-acute setting for neonatal to geriatric patients. Review and document pertinent patient information while educating patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans. Monitor patient compliance to therapy, communicate with physicians, and resolve patient issues as part of process improvement initiatives. Adapt communication styles to specific patient populations and remain knowledgeable on federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards. Travel to patient homes to setup and monitor equipment, maintain on-call availability for patient needs, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Therapy
- Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
- Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- BLS – Basic Life Support Certification through American Heart Association
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Knowledge of respiratory equipment
- Reliable transportation to travel to patient homes to setup/monitor respiratory equipment
- Ability to be on-call for patients needs
- Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Must be able to lift 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Must be able to exert greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Must be able to walk or stand to a significant degree
- Must be able to push and/or pull of arm or leg controls
- Must be able to work at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials
- Must be able to enter isolation rooms
- Must be able to handle receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Allied Health or Related Field
- Experience with Positive Airway Pressure (PAP)
- Experience with other Respiratory Home Medical Equipment
