Job Summary
Coordinate customer shipping requirements, prepare export and import documents, and generate invoices while entering data into the AS-400 database. Manage pickup and delivery orders with carriers and provide daily customer service via phone and email. Interface with the Customs Brokerage Department for regulatory compliance guidance and supply rates to internal and external clients. Handle account management, shipment tracking, and reporting to meet company goals. This role reports to the Manager of the Philadelphia Ocean Department and requires flexible scheduled hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED, or equivalency certificate, or significant relevant or appropriate working experience
- Must be available to work flexible scheduled hours and days depending upon customer demands
- Satisfactory Performance Review history
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, reach, lift, push, climb, pull and carry of heavy objects repeatedly
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years' freight-forwarding industry experience in ocean cargo operations
- Experience in FCL / LCL Ocean Cargo logistics and documentation
- Experience with steamship lines' Bill of Lading and INCO terms
- Experience with Ocean accounting
- Strong PC skills – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, AS400 knowledge
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications, customer service and teamwork skills, with professional, positive, and motivated demeanor
- Commitment to the appropriate sense of urgency to complete assignments with accuracy and efficiency
- Strong organizational skills with superior attention to details and follow-up
- Able to multitask and effectively handle changing priorities under pressure
- Ability to understand, develop and maintain multi-cultural relationships
- Patience – able to deal with complex processes that may involve multiple levels of approval
