Job Summary
Senior Ocean Marine Underwriter sought to lead underwriting strategy across Ocean Marine, Cargo, Inland Marine, and Transportation portfolios. Responsible for under-writing complex domestic and international cargo operations, marine liabilities, and global supply chain exposures; develop customized insurance solutions for multinational clients; maintain broker/client relationships; collaborate with claims, actuarial, legal, compliance, engineering, and reinsurance teams; monitor portfolio performance via loss ratio analysis, catastrophe modeling, and executive reporting; develop underwriting guidelines and growth initiatives aligned with enterprise profitability; mentor underwriting teams and support talent development; stay ahead of market and geopolitical developments to adjust strategy.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of Commercial Marine Insurance Underwriting experience with advanced expertise in Ocean Marine, Cargo, Hull, Inland Marine, or Transportation underwriting
- Strong technical knowledge of marine insurance coverage forms, international trade exposures, logistics operations, and global cargo transit risks
- Demonstrated ability to manage underwriting profitability and maintain accountability for portfolio performance
- Proven underwriting judgment involving complex domestic and multinational marine risks
- Strong analytical, financial, and decision-making capabilities
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Experience collaborating across underwriting, claims, legal, actuarial, engineering, compliance, and reinsurance functions
- Ability to evaluate complex supply chain exposures and emerging transportation risks
- Proficiency in underwriting analytics, portfolio management tools, Microsoft Excel, and reporting platforms
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, AMIM, or progress toward certification preferred
