Job Summary
Ocean Export Operations Agent responsible for end-to-end coordination of ocean export shipments, including rate quotes, vendor selection, invoicing, and profit analysis. The role handles scheduling, tracking, and documentation between clients, vendors, forwarders, and brokers, and prepares quotations for ICAT clients. It requires ensuring compliance with industry and ICAT requirements, developing SOPs and process improvements, and contributing to cost savings and margin improvements. The position involves joining key accounts on sales calls, building strong customer and vendor relationships, and acting as a subject-matter expert for operations questions. The role may require after-hours on-call work and participation in team meetings for continuous improvement and growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of transportation and/or freight forwarding experience in ocean export
- Working knowledge of spot quotes, LTL, TL, and expedited ground services
- Knowledge of NMFC and density rating
- Hands-on ability with rating and routing freight
- Understanding of major carriers serving Canada and Mexico
- Proven track record building relationships with customers and vendors
- Government-client requirements and knowledge (USTRANSCOM) a plus
- Knowledge of FMC, IMCO, ITA, TSA, C-TPAT, HAZMAT, CBP
- Functional knowledge of international regulations and compliance in air/ocean freight
- Experience negotiating rates with trucking companies, carriers, and overseas partners
- Knowledge of international and domestic geography
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office
