Job Summary
Select therapy activities for patients based on their specific needs and capabilities, while assessing daily living skills and capacities of disabled clients. Assist occupational therapists in developing treatment plans, implementing care strategies, and documenting patient progress in electronic records. Instruct patients and families on home programs, adaptive equipment use, and emotional management techniques. Collaborate with healthcare professionals during care plan meetings and maintain accurate client records. Aids patients in dressing, grooming, and basic living skills. Assembles, cleans, and maintains therapy equipment and materials. Requires extensive standing, walking, and patient handling.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited occupational therapy program
- Current state licensure as Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards
- Knowledge and skills to care for patient needs of the SNF population
- Must possess problem solving skills to successfully perform job
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong customer service orientation
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees, patients, and family members
- Ability to travel as needed to perform job
- Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment
