Job Summary
Conduct specialized tasks within the established plan of a licensed Occupational Therapist for home health and hospice patients. Perform selected measurement procedures and implement treatment programs while communicating and documenting patient care activities. Execute physical, psychosocial, and environmental assessments and demonstrate sound judgment in providing patient care as delegated. Manage hazardous drugs in accordance with NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines. Requires OTA certification in California, a valid driver's license, and access to a reliable automobile for home visits. Full-time, 40-hour week, Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- OTA certification in the state of California
- Graduate of approved school for Occupational Therapy Assistants, as defined by the board, with documentation of approval to practice as an OTA by the Occupational Therapy Board of California
- Equivalent experience in lieu of the required degree or diploma
- BLS-Basic Life Support
- DL-Valid Drivers License
- AUTO-Automobile Insurance
- Minimum of one year of experience in acute care, home health or community health setting
- Direct patient care experience within the past five years
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (both verbal and written)
- Legible handwriting for documentation of patient records in a clear and concise manner
- Basic understanding of home care services, clinical standards of occupational therapy care and practice

- Ability to work independently, (as delegated) with sound judgment in providing patient care

- Access to a reliable automobile for home visits
- Ability to handle hazardous drugs in the course of their work, including patient care, which requires them to manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines
