Job Summary
Support the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic recreation programs by identifying resident needs through observation and data collection. Assist with admission assessments including leisure history, then collaborate with the care team to develop and deliver individualized and group recreation programs aligned with resident goals. Ensure safe transportation of residents, staff, and volunteers while maintaining accountability during outings. Participate in required training and in-services to uphold organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current CPR (Heart & Stroke / equivalent) certification
- Valid Class 4 driver's license (or equivalent)
- Must be able to provide a current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Record Check, or be willing to obtain one
Desired Qualifications
- Recreation Therapy Aide (RTA) Certificate
- Health Care Aide (HCA) Certificate
- Standard First Aid certification
- Experience working with seniors or in a therapeutic recreation/health care setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage residents, families, volunteers, and team members
- A compassionate, empathetic, and professional approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
