Job Summary
Conduct physical and psychological assessments of clients and develop individualized, strength-based treatment plans. Evaluate patient conditions regarding physical and basic mental health, then create or follow rehabilitation programs to help clients regain lost skills and prepare them for a return to work. Assess home and work environments to recommend necessary adjustments and advise on adaptive equipment for daily activities. Educate caregivers and family members on patient care while evaluating treatment progress and results. Maintain professional knowledge and technical progress to provide the best available treatment, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local certification requirements. Complete all required documentation and attend leadership training meetings.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in occupational therapy
- state license
- up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and physical therapy programs
- A bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) or AOTA (American -Occupational Therapy Association)
- Certified by the National Board for Certification
- Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of behavioral health and mental health principles and practices
- Knowledge of and ability to complete physical assessment of clients
- Knowledge of and developing treatment plans
- Knowledge of developing physical rehabilitation programs
- Knowledge of community integration development
- Knowledge of CMS, MDHHS policies, rules, regulations and procedures
