Job Summary
Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients with sports, orthopedic and physical disorders in an inpatient rehab setting, working with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement goals and plans of care. Responsibilities include conducting evaluations and re-evaluations, planning and directing patient care, supervising licensed and non-licensed staff (e.g., rehab aides), ensuring infection control and patient safety, determining prognosis and rehab potential, coordinating home exercise programs, documenting thoroughly for billing and continuity of care, and promoting evidence-based practice. The role emphasizes collaboration with patients and families, achieving productive productivity standards, utilizing technology and software for patient care and documentation, and pursuing ongoing professional development and supervision of clinical students as needed. Minimum education requires a BS or MS in Occupational Therapy with Massachusetts licensure; BLS is required; duties include patient education, discharge planning as appropriate, and adherence to organizational policies.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Occupational Therapy from accredited school
- Massachusetts OT license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Active Massachusetts license to practice Occupational Therapy
- Ability to maintain active license to practice Occupational Therapy in Massachusetts
- Rehabilitation experience preferred
