Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with physician referrals, interpret findings, and develop written plans of care with specific goals. Implement advanced occupational therapy treatments, monitor progress toward treatment objectives, and adjust programs as needed. Supervise assistants and support staff while serving as a clinical mentor and instructor to staff, students, and the community. Document patient progress accurately in medical records and communicate effectively with physicians, insurance companies, and caregivers. Identify needs for new departmental programs, design revised initiatives, and lead departmental committees and taskforces. Assist with strategic planning, budgeting, and policy development to ensure cost-effective, high-quality care delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or graduate degree in occupational therapy from an accredited university-based occupational therapy program
  • Current License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support
  • At least five (5) years of clinical experience or four (4) years of clinical experience, with the completion of an accredited residency or fellowship program
  • Fine hand dexterity
  • Eye-hand coordination
  • The ability to receive oral and written communication
  • The ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
  • The ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
  • The ability to distinguish colors
  • The ability to observe physical characteristics
  • The ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
  • The ability to carry up to 30 pounds
  • The ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • The ability to walk frequently
  • The ability to stoop
  • The ability to squat
