Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with physician referrals, interpret findings, and develop written plans of care to maximize independence. Implement advanced occupational therapy treatments, monitor progress toward goals, and instruct patients and caregivers using appropriate motivational methods. Supervise assistants and support staff while serving as a clinical resource, mentor, and instructor to students, volunteers, and the community. Identify needs for new or revised departmental programs, conceptualize designs, and lead departmental committees and taskforces to drive strategic planning and operational improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or graduate degree in occupational therapy from an accredited university-based occupational therapy program
- Current License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current Certification in Basic Life Support
- At least five (5) years of clinical experience or four ( 4) years of clinical experience, with the completion of an accredited residency or fellowship program
- The ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds and carry up to 30 pounds
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- The ability to receive oral and written communication
- The ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- The ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- The ability to distinguish colors
- The ability to observe physical characteristics
