Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with physician referrals, interpreting findings to develop and initiate individualized treatment plans. Implement advanced occupational therapy treatments, including seating and mobility interventions, while periodically assessing progress to adjust goals and programs. Supervise assistants and support staff, ensuring safe and effective performance in a professional environment. Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and instructor to staff, students, volunteers, and the community by developing educational programs and presenting special topics at meetings and conferences. Manage time effectively, document findings accurately in medical records, and communicate with physicians, insurance companies, and colleagues. Identify needs for new departmental programs, design revisions, and contribute to strategic planning, budgets, and policies. Participate in system committees and taskforces, assisting with daily operations and staffing as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or graduate degree in occupational therapy from an accredited university-based occupational therapy program
  • Current License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support
  • At least five (5) years of clinical experience or four ( 4) years of clinical experience, with the completion of an accredited residency or fellowship program
  • The ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Fine hand dexterity
  • Eye-hand coordination
  • The ability to receive oral and written communication
  • The ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
  • The ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
  • The ability to distinguish colors
  • The ability to observe physical characteristics
