Job Summary
Evaluate and treat older adults in private residences or independent living facilities to restore functional independence. Organize occupational therapy programs, screen and examine patients, and design treatment plans addressing mobility, balance, cognitive skills, and activities of daily living. Direct patient participation in therapeutic tasks, instruct on adaptive device use, and modify plans based on progress. Supervise therapy assistants and support staff while ensuring adherence to clinical documentation and safety standards. Manage referrals and collaborate with physicians to address comprehensive patient needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
- initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
- valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice
- valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patient's residence
