Job Summary
Conduct outpatient occupational therapy services in home settings for older adults, including private residences and independent living facilities. Evaluate patients through history, systems review, and appropriate tests to establish diagnoses, identify impairments, and design treatment plans addressing cognitive skills, mobility, balance, and activities of daily living. Implement therapeutic techniques, instruct patients on adaptive device usage, and supervise therapy assistants and students in accordance with licensure requirements. Manage patient care by consulting with physicians, making referrals, and ensuring timely clinical and billing documentation while maintaining a safe environment and enforcing safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
- initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
- valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice
- valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patient's residence
