Job Summary
Evaluate and treat older adults in their private residences or independent living facilities, organizing occupational therapy programs to restore functional performance. Screen, examine, and evaluate patients to establish diagnoses, develop treatment goals, and implement plans covering mobility, balance, and activities of daily living. Direct patient participation in selected tasks, instruct on adaptive device use, and perform routine reexaminations to modify care as needed. Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel while adhering to state licensure requirements. Manage referrals to other disciplines, attend staffing conferences, and ensure timely clinical and billing documentation. Maintain a safe environment by identifying hazards, ordering supplies, and repairing equipment. This role offers a flexible schedule with various settings, including the Journey Travel Program for work across the U.S.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
- initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
- valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice
- valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patient's residence
