Job Summary
Evaluate and treat older adults in their private residences or independent living facilities to restore functional independence. Organize and conduct occupational therapy programs that facilitate rehabilitation by directing patient participation in selected tasks. Screen, examine, and evaluate patients to establish diagnoses, identify impairments, and design individualized treatment plans covering activities of daily living, mobility, and cognitive skills. Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel while adhering to state licensure requirements. Adapt plans of care based on patient needs and progress, making referrals to other disciplines as necessary. Ensure a safe environment by enforcing hazard elimination and maintaining equipment. Complete clinical and billing documentation, attend staffing conferences, and collaborate with the rehabilitation team to address comprehensive patient needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
- initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
- a valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice
- a valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patient's residence
