Job Summary
Occupational Therapist Assistant in Edgecombe County Public Schools provides screening, evaluation, and development/implementation of school-based intervention services under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. The role supports students with disabilities in daily living activities and school participation, delivering individually designed interventions in areas such as personal care, student role/interaction, process skills, play, community integration/work, and graphic communication. Responsibilities include contributing to evaluations, developing and modifying intervention plans with the supervising OT, documenting progress, maintaining records, coordinating with families and educational personnel, and participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings. Requires an associate degree OTA program, NBCOT certification, active NC licensure, and experience (preferably pediatrics). Skills include knowledge of OT theories/models, assessment, data collection, equipment and environment adaptations, and effective communication; emphasis on safety, evidence-based practice, and budget planning.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion and graduation from an accredited associate’s degree Occupational Therapy Assistant program recognized by NBCOT and completion of all fieldwork requirements.
- Two years of experience as an occupational therapy assistant, preferably in pediatrics.
- Initial certification as an occupational therapy assistant by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Current license as an occupational therapy assistant by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy
