Job Summary
Occupational Therapist - Mental Health ACTT (Full-Time) provides OT services within a patient-centered, interdisciplinary Mental Health ACTT program at Brockville General Hospital. The role emphasizes assessments and treatments for mental health disorders across inpatient/outpatient settings, utilizing modalities such as CBT, motivational interviewing, and DBT, with attention to safety planning and crisis intervention. The position requires a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, current COTO registration, and at least three years of clinical mental health experience, plus willingness to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and engage with clients in home and community settings.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized University
- Membership in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
- Membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) preferred
- Minimum of three years� experience providing direct clinical services within an inpatient, and/or outpatient mental and/or community mental setting
- Experience in assessment and treatment of Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic Disorders, Bipolar and Related Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders
- Experience with cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behaviour therapy and other empirically supported modalities
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Training
- Proof of malpractice insurance as required by COTO
- Valid Class G Ontario driver’s license, current driver’s abstract and proof of current vehicle insurance
- Current Assistive Devices Program (ADP) authorizer preferred
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (RHCPA, Mental Health Act, PHIPA, Health Care Consent Act, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of OT assessments including cognitive, vocational, rehabilitation tools and modalities
- Demonstrated experience with non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Knowledge of regional health care system, mental health and addictions services, community services and resources
- Knowledge of Assertive Community Treatment Team Standards
- Ability to accompany clients in home and community settings
- Working knowledge of psychopharmacology

- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Good attendance and availability
