Job Summary
Conduct diagnostic evaluations and treatment for assigned patients to help them reach maximum performance levels and function within community limits. Administer and write evaluations in accordance with departmental standards while maintaining timely, accurate patient records. Direct support staff to achieve functional goals and design individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients. Provide prevention therapy, instruct patients and families on energy conservation, safety techniques, and proper transfer methods, and develop home programs. Participate in patient support groups with team members. Requires current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association and proficiency with state, federal, and professional standards. Duties involve extensive standing, walking, and patient lifting, positioning, and transferring.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and skills to care for patient needs of the SNF population
- Must possess problem solving skills to successfully perform job
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong customer service orientation
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees, patients, and family members
- Ability to travel as needed to perform job
- Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment
- Graduate of an accredited Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
- Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association required
- Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards
- Duties require extensive standing and walking
- Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients
- Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
