Job Summary
Organize and conduct occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, directing patient participation in tasks that restore performance and correct pathology. Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, students, and support personnel while screening, examining, and evaluating patients to establish diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans. Implement therapeutic techniques addressing cognitive skills, mobility, balance, and activities of daily living, and design, fabricate, and train patients in adaptive devices. Adapt plans of care based on patient progress and consult with the rehabilitation team to select appropriate regimens. Maintain a safe environment by enforcing safety protocols, ordering supplies, and reporting equipment repairs. Ensure timely documentation, attend staffing conferences, and make referrals to address comprehensive patient needs. Travel nationwide for 13-week assignments across skilled nursing centers, clinics, and home-based care settings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
- initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
- a valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice
- Must be available to travel to and temporarily reside in locations outside of the therapist's primary home
