Job Summary
Screen, test, evaluate, diagnose, and treat injuries, diseases, and disabilities using occupational therapy procedures and modalities. Consult, educate, and train patients, families, and caregivers while collaborating with care teams to deliver patient-centered care. Develop care plans with specific goals based on patient assessments and manage all aspects of patient care and education, including supervising assistants, aides, office staff, and students. Conduct evaluations and treatments according to professional standards, considering diagnosis, history, and physician referrals. Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers about patient needs and goals. Participate in patient care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, and staff meetings. Engage in quality improvement processes, including utilization review audits, and contribute to program development and marketing strategies. Maintain thorough patient records and complete billing accurately. Work 30 hours per week at St. Marys Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Required Qualifications
- Current Occupational Therapist license in states where you work
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Current driver's license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc)
- Expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
- Possess skill sets and experience with target population of job setting
