Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations including physical, cognitive, and perceptual skill assessments to develop individualized treatment plans. Implement and monitor occupational therapy programs, adjusting goals based on periodic progress checks. Provide direct patient care, instruct caregivers, and supervise COTA's and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient treatments. Document findings accurately in medical records and communicate effectively with physicians and insurance companies. May serve as a clinical instructor for interns and present special topics at department meetings. Ensure safe care for patients and staff while adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
