Job Summary
Assess patients and develop comprehensive treatment plans based on evaluations of physical, cognitive, and developmental skills. Implement occupational therapy programs, administer basic treatments, and periodically monitor patient progress to adjust goals. Supervise COTA's and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care, while instructing patients and caregivers on appropriate methods. Document findings, progress, and instructions in medical records, and communicate effectively with physicians and insurance companies. May serve as a clinical instructor for interns and present special topics at professional meetings. Manage time effectively, ensure safe care for all stakeholders, and adhere to organizational policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- The ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- The ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
