Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans to maximize independence in occupational performance areas. Implement basic occupational therapy treatments and monitor progress by periodically assessing patients to alter goals and programs as indicated. Supervise COTA's and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care while documenting findings, progress, and instructions for patients and caregivers. Communicate effectively with physicians, insurance companies, and staff to ensure safe, compassionate care aligned with Memorial Hermann standards. Present special topics at clinic meetings and grand rounds as requested, serving as a clinical instructor for interns and a mentor to less experienced staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
