Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans to maximize independence in occupational performance areas. Implement basic occupational therapy treatments and supervise COTAs and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care. Document findings, progress, and instructions for patients and caregivers while communicating effectively with physicians and insurance companies. Periodically assess patients to monitor progress toward goals and alter plans as indicated. Serve as a clinical instructor for interns and provide guidance to students and staff. Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to all policies and standards within budgetary specifications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
