Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients to assess physical, cognitive, and developmental skills, then develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Provide direct patient care while documenting findings, progress, and instructions for patients and caregivers. Supervise assistants and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care treatments and monitor progress toward goals. Communicate effectively with physicians, insurance companies, and professional colleagues to coordinate care. May assist with program development, provide training to students and interns, and serve as a clinical instructor. Ensure safe, compassionate care while adhering to all policies and standards within budgetary specifications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Occasional or frequent lifting up to 75-100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds
- Prolonged standing
- Frequent walking, stooping and squatting
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- The ability to receive oral and written communication
- The ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- The ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- The ability to distinguish colors
- The ability to observe physical characteristics
