Job Summary
Assess patients and develop comprehensive treatment plans based on evaluation findings of physical, cognitive, and developmental skills. Implement occupational therapy programs, perform basic treatments, and supervise COTAs and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care. Document progress, instruct patients and caregivers, and communicate effectively with physicians and insurance companies. Monitor patient progress periodically to alter goals and programs as indicated. Present special topics at clinic meetings, grand rounds, and conferences as delegated. Ensure safe care while adhering to Memorial Hermann policies and standards within budgetary specifications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- The ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- The ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
