Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and interpret findings to develop written plans of care and treatment goals. Implement occupational therapy programs, deliver basic treatments, and monitor progress to adjust plans as needed. Supervise COTA's and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care while motivating and instructing patients and caregivers. Document findings, progress, and instructions accurately in medical records and communicate effectively with physicians and insurance companies. Present special topics at clinic meetings and grand rounds as requested.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- The ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- The ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Prolonged standing
- Frequent walking
- Stooping
- Squatting
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- The ability to receive oral and written communication
- The ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- The ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- The ability to distinguish colors
- The ability to observe physical characteristics
