Job Summary
Assess patients and develop comprehensive treatment plans based on evaluation findings of physical, cognitive, and developmental skills. Implement occupational therapy programs and provide direct patient care while documenting progress and instructing caregivers. Supervise COTA's and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care treatments and periodically reassess patients to monitor progress toward goals. Communicate effectively with physicians, insurance companies, and staff, and may serve as a clinical instructor for interns. Manage time effectively and ensure safe care while adhering to all hospital policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
