Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, interpreting findings to develop and initiate individualized treatment plans focused on maximizing independence in occupational performance. Implement basic occupational therapy treatments, monitor progress toward goals, and adjust programs as indicated. Supervise assistants and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care while motivating and instructing patients and caregivers. Document findings, progress, and instructions accurately in medical records and communicate effectively with physicians and insurance companies. Serve as a clinical instructor for interns and provide training to staff, ensuring safe care while adhering to all hospital policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
