Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients, measuring physical, cognitive, and perceptual skills to maximize independence. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, delivering direct occupational therapy interventions while monitoring progress toward goals. Supervise COTA's and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care treatments, and mentor interns and students as a clinical instructor. Document findings, progress, and instructions accurately in medical records and communicate effectively with physicians and insurance companies. Manage time effectively and ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to Memorial Hermann policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Occasional or frequent lifting up to 75-100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds
- Prolonged standing
- Frequent walking, stooping and squatting
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- The ability to receive oral and written communication
- To communicate verbally and in writing
- The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- To recognize alphanumeric characters
- To distinguish colors
- To observe physical characteristics
