Job Summary
Assess patients and develop comprehensive treatment plans based on evaluations of physical, cognitive, and perceptual skills. Implement occupational therapy programs, perform basic treatments, and supervise COTAs and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care. Monitor progress periodically, alter goals as indicated, and document findings, progress, and instructions accurately in medical records. Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurance companies while presenting special topics at meetings and conferences. Serve as a clinical instructor for interns and mentor less experienced staff, ensuring safe care and adherence to Memorial Hermann policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
