Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients, interpreting findings to develop and initiate individualized treatment plans. Implement occupational therapy programs, perform basic therapy skills, and supervise COTAs and rehabilitation technicians regarding patient care. Monitor progress toward goals, adjust plans as needed, and motivate patients and caregivers using appropriate instructional methods. Communicate effectively with physicians, insurance companies, and staff, while accurately documenting all findings and progress in medical records. May serve as a clinical instructor for interns and present special topics at department meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
