Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including tests of physical, cognitive, and perceptual skills, to develop and initiate individualized treatment plans. Implement occupational therapy programs, perform basic treatments, and supervise assistants and rehabilitation technicians regarding patient care. Monitor progress periodically, adjust goals and plans as needed, and document findings, progress, and instructions accurately in medical records. Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurance companies while ensuring safe care for all. May serve as a clinical instructor for interns and present special topics at department meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
