Job Summary
Occupational Therapist - Inpatient role within MHA EZ Inpatient Services at St. Martha's Regional Hospital. The OT collaborates with clients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to assess, treat, and maintain patients’ function in self-care, productivity, and leisure; responsibilities include developing individualized treatment plans, managing a busy caseload, providing education to clients and caregivers, supervising OT Assistants, and contributing to clinical education. Required to be licensed with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS) and to have graduated from a CAOT-recognized OT program. Strong assessment and communication skills, knowledge of DSM, and experience with individual and group treatment; familiarity with CBT, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing; CPR certification is required; AMPS certification is an asset; French language skills are an asset. This is a permanent full-time healthcare bargaining unit position with a salary of $38.43-$50.99 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a CAOT-recognized School of Occupational Therapy
- Licensed with College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS)
- Two years relevant experience preferred
- Maintain current CPR certification
- Knowledge of DSM
- Counselling skills
- Demonstrated experience in individual and group treatment
- Familiarity with psychotherapeutic approaches such as CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and/or Motivational Interviewing
- Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team
- Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) certification an asset
- Demonstrated experience in conducting functional assessments and writing reports
- French language skills considered an asset
